Lloyds Bank and Halifax are poised to shut 54 UK branches in 2026, following the closure of numerous high street outlets throughout this year.

This development comes as both institutions, which form part of the Lloyds Banking Group, have witnessed a transformation in customer behaviour, with increasing numbers opting for digital banking services.

The planned widespread closures represent another significant setback for Britain’s high streets in recent years.

Nevertheless, the group remains committed to delivering banking assistance in locations where branches are being shuttered.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group said: “The way people are banking has changed, with over 21 million customers choosing apps to manage their money. We’re providing more choice than ever before, bringing together the best in digital convenience with our people,” reports the Express.

“Alongside our app, our customers can use any Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland branch, the Post Office or banking hubs for their everyday banking, and deposit cash at over 30,000 PayPoint locations.”

Community Bankers operate from community venues or banking hubs and assist those without access to a local branch.

Your nearest Community Banker can be located through both the Lloyds Bank and Halifax websites.
