Tiger Woods has suffered countless injuries throughout his career and just underwent his seventh back surgery, and has now scheduled a press conference with less than 24 hours of notice.

The 15-time major champion had L4-L5 disc replacement surgery on his lumbar spine in the beginning of October and had announced he would be in attendance for his teammates at the TGL season opener in January, but has just announced a press conference with no details.

Woods is expected to hold a press conference on Tuesday (Dec.2) at the Albany Golf Course in The Bahamas at 9am ET ahead of the Hero World Challenge, the tournament he hosts. It comes after his former caddie made a surprise retirement U-turn for a Masters hopeful.

Fans have been quick to speculate whether he will provide an update on his career. “Would be great to hear some confidence and a possible timeline for the Big Cat’s return to golf!,” said one X user.

Another one took to the comment section with a different announcement in mind. “Retirement? Hope not but wouldn’t bet against it.” Another also said “Which Tiger will we get? The happy jovial Tiger or the serious boring Tiger that says nothing? FWIW; The most important news out of the Woods household is actually where Charlie will commit to.”

Woods is one of the best golfers in the history of the sport, as he’s won 15 majors and 82 times on the PGA Tour.

Tiger Woods underwent seventh back surgery and gave no information on when he plans to return

His first injuries were back in 1994, when he had scar tissue removal and came off a huge victory in the U.S. Amatuer, and ever since then Woods has been making history. His most recent surgery ended successfully, but Woods gave no timeframe on if or when he would return to the sport.

“After experiencing pain and lack of mobility in my back, I consulted with Doctors and Surgeons to have tests taken. The scans determined that I had a collapsed disk in my L4/5, disk fragments and a compromised spinal canal. I opted to have my disk replaced yesterday, and I already know I made a good decision for my health and my back,” Woods posted on X.

He has been sidelined for an incredible amount of injuries, yet none of them have shut him completely down just yet, but fans are calling for him to quit. Tiger has had 33 injuries throughout his career, and most people think that he should end it here because he’s ‘proved enough.’ Woods has already recovered from numerous back surgeries throughout his career.

A torn achilles cost Woods the entire 2025 season as he last played in the TGL, which he and Rory McIlroy run. Fans were hopeful he would return for that, but with this most recent back surgery, most are unsure as Woods did not provide a timetable for his recovery.

Woods has now undergone well over a dozen surgeries, and with each and every injury announcement, Woods has also said that he is determined to power through and fight his way back.
