Yuki Tsunoda reveals only regret since joining Red Bull as future remains uncertain

Yuki Tsunoda has revealed that his only regret since joining Red Bull was his crash during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix due to its long-term impact on his 2025 season.
The Japanese driver joined the Milton Keynes outfit ahead of the third round of the 2025 season. Since replacing rookie Liam Lawson alongside Max Verstappen, Tsunoda has scored 25 points while struggling to extract the same performance as the Dutchman from the car.
While speaking to the media ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix, which marks the first of the final two rounds of the season, Tsunoda was quizzed on any regrets he has since moving from Racing Bulls to Red Bull.
“No, I don’t have any regrets, but maybe the only thing I can say is Imola crash,” he explained. “I think that made me probably back step quite a lot, you know, in coming parts, I would say. So, only that.
“My decision to the Red Bull is happy. I’m still taking the same one, exactly the same. Yeah, I think that made me stronger. But yeah, only thing is that, something that I feel, okay, something I didn’t make, some big mistake this year was that Imola crash. Yeah, that’s it.”
The 25-year-old driver suffered a violent crash during qualifying for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The substantial damage to his RB21 meant he was forced to run an older Red Bull floor design for the Monaco Grand Prix the week after Imola, and he drove multiple races with different specification to his team-mate.
Tsunoda’s future with the Austrian team and in the championship as a whole is still uncertain.

It is understood the Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar is the favourite for Tsunoda’s seat with Red Bull next year. Red Bull junior Arvid Lindblad has also been linked to a seat at Racing Bulls, leaving Tsunoda and Lawson to compete for the final seat in the sister squad.
Red Bull and Racing Bulls are the final teams to confirm the 2026 driver line-ups, meaning the driver left without a seat will be searching for a contract, likely either in a reserve driver role or in another racing series.
Just two rounds remain in the 2025 season. The Qatar Grand Prix weekend will feature the final sprint race before Formula 1 heads to Abu Dhabi for the season finale next week.
