Craig Carton headed back to WFAN afternoon drive, per report

Craig Carton is close to finalizing a deal to return to WFAN and its afternoon time slot in 2026, according to a report from The Athletic.

This would be Carton’s third stint with New York’s top sports radio station, following successful runs as the morning show co-host with Boomer Esiason for a decade before his arrest on federal fraud charges in 2017 and then in the afternoon with Evan Roberts.

The report said that “Evan and Tiki,” WFAN’s current afternoon program with Roberts and former Giants running back Tiki Barber, would move to the mid-day show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in place Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata.

Carton left WFAN under amicable terms in 2023, citing the difficulty of maintaining his work schedule of hosting a morning sports talk show on FS1 and an afternoon radio show while balancing family life. Carton’s show would get rebranded to “Breakfast Ball” in 2024 and later canceled by FS1 last July.

This would be the second shakeup to WFAN’s hosts, following Keith McPherson leaving overnights late last month.
