Newcastle will be without a number of key players when they host Tottenham in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Eddie Howe spoke to the media on Monday morning on the back of his side’s impressive 4-1 win on the road at Everton. But the Magpies will be without right-back Kieran Trippier this week as the ex- Tottenham man is still yet to recover from a hamstring issue.

Striker William Osula remains sidelined too while fellow forward Yoane Wissa is still not ready to feature for Howe’s side following his £55million deadline day transfer from Brentford.

Wissa recently played in a behind-closed-doors friendly for Newcastle as he steps up his recovery from a knee injury that has prevented him from making his debut for the North East club.

Howe also indicated centre-back Sven Botman is poised to miss the clash with a back issue. Moving forward, Newcastle need to determine whether the Netherlands international requires rest or alternatively, whether he can play with an injection.

Nick Pope is also undergoing further assessment on a groin problem that kept him out of the win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will also be bolstered by the return of captain Cristian Romero, who missed the defeat to Fulham due to suspension.

The Argentine was also absent when Spurs previously travelled to St James’ Park in the Carabao Cup in October.

The pressure is now mounting on Thomas Frank but generally, Spurs have been decent on their travels in the Premier League this season, picking up wins at Everton, Leeds, West Ham and Manchester City.

Frank is set to provide a fitness update later today, when he addresses the media ahead of the long trip north to Tyneside.

Thomas Frank’s Tottenham are looking to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to Fulham

Tottenham are currently navigating huge problems of their own as there is huge discontent amongst supporters following a string of unconvincing displays.

Pedro Porro has since addressed Spurs fans on social media after he appeared to show frustration at full-time of Saturday’s defeat to Fulham.

He said in a statement published on Instagram: “Football is emotions. In football, as in life, there can always be mistakes.

“What I will not tolerate is hearing disrespect from the fans to my team-mates, hence my frustration at the end of the game.

“And we will get up. We remind you, six months ago, everything was so bad.

“In the end, it is not how it begins but how it ends. To the true Spurs fans, I love you.”
