One important member of Lane Kiffin’s LSU staff to continue coaching Ole Miss in the playoffs

Newly-hired LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. will lead the Ole Miss offense during the College Football Playoff, Ole Miss announced Tuesday when revealing new head coach Pete Golding’s staff for the CFP.
Weis has already signed on as Lane Kiffin’s offensive coordinator, and will start with an annual salary of $1.9 million under a three-year contract. The deal makes him one of the 10 highest-paid assistants in the country.
Kiffin wanted to continue to coach his former Ole Miss team through the CFP, but Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter decided it was best to move on and elevate Golding from defensive coordinator to head coach.
“With the playoff committee releasing updated rankings tonight, I wanted it to be known that after conversations with LSU, we are allowing Charlie to return to Ole Miss to coach the team during the playoffs,” Kiffin said Tuesday in a statement. “I’ve already made the committee aware of this and I’m hopeful this decision will allow Ole Miss to receive the highest ranking possible because these great players are very deserving of that. I’m excited that Charlie will be back to help coach the greatest team in the history of Ole Miss.”
Other Ole Miss staff members who have followed Kiffin to LSU from Ole Miss include co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Joe Cox, wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator George McDonald, inside wide receivers coach Sawyer Jordan, head of strength and conditioning Nick Savage and senior executive director of player personnel Mike Williams.
