I’m A Celebrity contestant Shona McGarty’s former fiancé spoke out on social media after the soap star entered the jungle. Irish musician David Bracken, 38, and Shona, 34, who became famous at 16 portraying Whitney Dean on Albert Square, became engaged last year – but separated a few weeks ago, shortly before the actress travelled to Australia for the programme.
On Thursday night (November 27) show, Shona appeared emotional as she opened up on the break-up. The ex-EastEnders star had to walk away from the camp as her fellow campmates became involved in a candid discussion around marriage.
As Aitch shared that he would love to get married one day, Kelly Brook shared: “I’d been engaged about five times before I met my husband!””
She then recalled that she was the one to suggest marriage to her current husband, with Martin Kemp revealing that his wife Shirlie did the same thing with him.

However, Shona followed Tom Read Wilson to do the washing up and admitted she had to leave the conversation as she’d just broken up with her fiancé before coming into the jungle.
As she and Tom went to do the washing up, Shona confided in him that she struggled to be part of the conversation as she’d just gone through a break up with her fiancé before coming into the jungle.
She admitted: “I really want a family. I’d love to be a mommy, and a wife.”
Tom comforted her immediately, and said: “Focus on you now, what turns you on in your talents. People in your orbit will celebrate you and your orbit will grow, and one day by accident somewhere in that orbit will be that person. You are a raving beauty.”
Although their engagement was brief, it’s understood Shona and her ex, David, remain on friendly terms, reports OK!.. After Shona joined the jungle earlier this month, David was eager to demonstrate his support after she made her debut appearance parachuting into the camp.
Posting to his Instagram Stories, the guitarist uploaded an affectionate photograph of the former pair together, accompanied by the caption: “Let’s go girl! You got this.”
It was revealed just a few weeks ago that Shona and David had ended their whirlwind romance – but there were no hard feelings. A source at the time claimed: “They are on amicable terms, but have ended their romantic relationship. “There are no hard feelings, they realised they wanted different things and are better off as friends.”
Shona and David, who lives in Ireland, first connected on TikTok two years ago, and the former Blessed band member proposed during a romantic picnic in Kensington, West London.
