Report: Pelicans’ Zion Williamson out with right adductor injury

This has become a common occurrence in New Orleans.

Pelicans star Zion Williamson will miss extended time due to a right adductor injury and will be re-evaluated in three weeks, Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Tuesday.

Injuries have been the story of Williamson’s career. The former No. 1 pick has missed nearly 60 per cent of his team’s games since being drafted in 2019, and has already missed over two weeks this season with a hamstring strain in the beginning of November.

It is unclear when Williamson first sustained the injury, but he last played in Saturday’s 104-96 loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Prior to this season, he has been limited to 30 or less games in four of his six years in the NBA, including missing the entire 2021-22 campaign.

Through 10 games this season, the 25-year-old averaged 22.1 points, 4.0 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game.
