Newcastle United fans have been told there will be no designated fan zone in Germany for next week’s clash with Bayer Leverkusen.
But after the post-match scenes that led to fans complaining to United, the club have been informed there will be no hold back after the game planned for the game against the Bundesliga side. Unlike, Marseille and Brussels there are no plans for a meeting point in Leverkusen, Cologne or Dusseldorf.
A club statement read: “There is no designated fan meeting point in Koln, Dusseldorf or Leverkusen for this fixture.
“Koln and Leverkusen are expected to be incredibly busy over the period of our fixture due to both cities hosting Christmas markets. Therefore, supporters are advised by the local authorities not gather on mass in the streets of either city and in turn find local pubs, bars and restaurants in each city prior to the game.
“Entrance for Newcastle United supporters is via Gate G & SG (See Map below). On arrival there will be a turnstile ticket scan for all supporters, followed by a proper body search (by Stewards) and there will also be a bag check during this stage. Bags must be below A4 in size or they will not be permitted in to the stadium. There is storage available at the stadium, and this is located directly to the left of the away entrance in a red container. It will cost 1 EUR per item and this is CASH ONLY.
“Newcastle United Ticketing staff will also be at this location, inside the red container, should you require any support. Tickets for this fixture will be digital and sent to supporters in advance of the fixture. A Newcastle United Stewarding Team will be located around the entry to the away turnstiles and in the away section should you require any assistance at any stage.
“Once inside the stadium, Newcastle United fans will be housed over two levels. Two blocks in the upper tier and three blocks in the lower tier. All supporters will enter via the same entrance and share the same concourse on the lower tier. Supporters with tickets in the upper tier can only access this via stairs and these stairs are located to the right of the kiosks. There is an additional kiosk on the upper tier. It is forbidden to smoke in the stadium. There is no prayer room at the Bay Arena.”
And the advice after the match was: “There is no planned holdback following the fixture. This remains at the discretion of the local authorities and if this changes an in-stadium announcement will be made.
“There will be trains from Leverkusen Mitte to Koln and Dusseldorf following the game. when exiting the stadium turn right and follow the river to the train station.”
And unlike Marseille, supporters have been told they WILL be welcome at the UEFA Youth League game taking place in the afternoon before the main event.
The club say: “The UEFA Youth League fixture will be played at the Ulrich-Haberland Stadion with a 14.00 kick off. This stadium is located directly next to the Bay Arena and travel information is listed above.
“This is not a ticketed fixture, and supporters are welcome to go to the fixture on the matchday.”
