Quentin Tarantino Bashes Paul Dano Again, Says He’s the ‘Worst Actor In SAG’

Quentin Tarantino is criticizing one of Paul Dano‘s movie performances once again.
The 62-year-old filmmaker recently revealed his Top 20 movies of the 21st Century and on it was one of Paul‘s earlier films, 2007′s There Will Be Blood, which was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
While Quentin overall loved the movie, he really didn’t not like Paul‘s dual performances as identical twins Eli and Paul Sunday.

On The Brett Easton Ellis Podcast, Quentin praised the movie and Daniel Day-Lewis and thought it could’ve been higher up on his list (he put it at No 5) if it wasn’t for Paul.
“There Will Be Blood would stand a good chance at being #1 or #2 if it didn’t have a big, giant flaw in it … and the flaw is Paul Dano. Obviously, it’s supposed to be a two-hander, but it’s also drastically obvious that it’s not a two-hander,” the filmmaker said. “[Dano] is weak sauce, man. He is the weak sister. Austin Butler would have been wonderful in that role. He’s just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy. The weakest f-cking actor in SAG [laughs].”
This isn’t the first time that Quentin has talked down on Paul and his performance in the movie. Previously, he said that there was nothing bad about his portrayal of the twins, but it “does seem a compromise.”
“He’s just not in the level and the caliber and the caliber of Daniel Day-Lewis and if the two characters are meant to be combats throughout the film, then Daniel Day-Lewis is Muhammed Ali and Paul Dano is Jerry Corey. It is what it is,” he said, via Screen Rant.
For his part, Paul was only supposed to play Paul Sunday, but after the actor for Eli Sunday left the movie, it was decided to have Paul step in for both, and he said he only had a few days to prep.
“I was cast at the last minute. I had three and a half to four days to get ready for the first day. I just went for it, threw myself in there and gave it everything I had. That was just guts and instinct, not a lot of preparation. I was in good hands with Paul [Thomas Anderson] and Daniel [Day Lewis], I felt I had to cut loose and go for it.”
Did you know one of Quentin Tarantino‘s hit movies is returning to theaters this weekend with a special event.
