Juventus easily overcomes Udinese – Zhegova plays little, but pleases the fans in the stands

Juventus secured an important qualification to the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup, after defeating Udinese with a score of 0-2, in a challenge where Luciano Spalletti’s team was superior and calmly managed the match from start to finish.

The Old Lady took the lead in the 23rd minute, when Jonathan David calmly finished off a precise pass, firing into the bottom corner.

Just a few minutes later, David sent the ball into the net again (33′), but the goal was disallowed for offside – a decision confirmed by VAR.

Udinese also had a goal disallowed for offside (30′), and the first half ended with a score of 1-0.

In the 56th minute, Juventus were forced to make a forced substitution, with Manuel Locatelli replacing the injured Federico Gatti.

Just a few minutes later came the decisive moment of the match: an interference in the area led to a review by VAR, and in the 67th minute the referee awarded a penalty.

Manuel Locatelli took charge and scored perfectly for 0-2, practically ending the match.

In the 81st minute, Luciano Spalletti brought on Edon Zhegrova, who played over ten minutes and was used as Juventus’ last-gasp substitute. The Albanian was unstoppable for as many minutes as he played, bringing the fans in the stands to their feet.

In extra time, Juventus scored once more, when Joao Mario assisted Lois Openda, who scored to make it 3-0. But this goal was also disallowed by VAR for offside.

With this victory and complete control, Juventus qualifies for the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup. Now the black and whites await their next opponent, the winner of the Atalanta – Genoa match, to find out who they will fight against for a place in the semifinals. /Telegraph/
