Ahead of the Pokemon Legends: Z-A DLC debut next week, Nintendo confirmed we’ll be able to get Mewtwo and its Mewtwonite X and Y Mega Stones and revealed Mega Lucario Z. The new Z form is part of a whole new type of Mega Evolution, and ones like that will act faster but also only be in that state for a shorter period of time. Meanwhile, Mewtwo and its items can be acquired now, as long as you own the game, but require someone to progress to a certain point to get and use it.
First, here’s the new Pokemon Legends: Z-A trailer. It starts by showing the standard Mega Evolution for Lucario, then shows the new Z form at the 30 second mark. The character’s appearance changes dramatically, and we get to see the difference in timing when it unleashes its attacks and moves. It will still be a fighting and steel type after it transforms.
The Mewtwo reveal comes up at about the 1:18 mark of the video. It confirms we need to use Mystery Gift to first acquire the stones and mission. Then, after completing the campaign, we can take on a quest to get the character.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is available for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and the Mega Dimension DLC release date is December 10, 2025.
