Powerball jackpot climbs to nearly $800 million ahead of Wednesday’s drawing

The Powerball jackpot has gotten so big this week, it may have you believing in fate — or a $2 ticket to play.

The Powerball jackpot has risen to $775M ahead of its next drawing Wednesday, making it one of the top ten biggest Powerball prizes in history. The lottery has not been won since September, when the previous $1.787 billion prize was split between two tickets in Missouri and Texas, per Powerball.

The odds of winning are 1 in over 292 million, according to Powerball.

To play, customers must purchase a $2 Powerball ticket and select five white numbers between 1 and 69 and one red number between 1 and 26 for the Powerball. The prize grows until it is won by a player with the corresponding five white numbers in any order with the matching red Powerball.

Winners can then receive the prize as a lump sum or paid out in 30 graduated payments over 29 years.

The grand jackpot has a cash value of $362.5M after tax, per Powerball.
