Veteran India batter Virat Kohli opened his account in style, smashing South African pacer Lungi Ngidi for a six in the second ODI of the three-match series. The contest is being played on Wednesday, December 3, in Raipur.
The moment came on the final delivery of the sixth over of India’s innings. Ngidi bowled a short ball at 131.5 kph, and Kohli pulled it over backward square leg, getting off the mark with a six on just his fourth ball of the innings.

The Delhi-born batter will be hoping to deliver another match-defining knock after winning the Player of the Match award in the first ODI, where he scored 135 off 120 balls, smashing 11 fours and seven sixes. His effort helped India secure a 17-run win while defending 349.

South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and invited India to bat. Yashasvi Jaiswal got India underway in style by hitting a boundary off the very first ball. In the fifth over, Rohit Sharma struck three consecutive fours off Nandre Burger before edging one to Quinton de Kock on the fifth delivery, departing for 14 off eight balls.
Virat Kohli walked in at No. 3 and opened his account with a six. Since then, Jaiswal and Kohli have steadied the innings. At the time of writing, India were 59/1 after eight overs, with Jaiswal on 21 and Kohli on eight.
