Shubman Gill has been appointed vice-captain, subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, indicating the board’s long-term plans to groom him as a future leader.The squad features a power-packed batting lineup with Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya providing a mix of explosive starts and middle-order muscle. All-round options remain plentiful; Axar Patel and Washington Sundar along with Pandya and Dube give India flexibility with both ball and bat, especially on home surfaces expected to assist slower bowlers as matches progress.In the wicketkeeping department, selectors have opted for two specialists — Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson — both of whom bring contrasting styles.The bowling group carries a balanced look.
