Harshit Rana took the prized scalp of centurion Aiden Markram in the second ODI between India and South Africa in Raipur on Wednesday, December 3. The speedster got Markram caught out for 100 off 98 balls, which included four sixes and 10 boundaries. With that, India reduced the Proteas to 197/3.
The dismissal came off the last delivery of the 30th over of South Africa’s run chase. Harshit bowled a slower delivery, short and wide of off at 112kmph. Markram tried to play a tennis forehand shot for a boundary, but ended up hitting it straight to Ruturaj Gaikwad at long-on.

With his fourth ODI ton, Aiden Markram returned to form, having departed for just seven in the opening game.
India vs South Africa 2nd ODI evenly poised after Aiden Markram’s ton in dew-friendly conditions in Raipur
The second ODI between India and South Africa is hanging in the balance after Aiden Markram struck a century because of heavy dew, which started falling around 6 pm IST.
At the time of writing, the tourists were 201/3 after 31.3 overs, with Matthew Breetzke and Dewald Brevis at the crease. Apart from Markram, skipper Temba Bavuma chipped in with 46 off 48 deliveries. However, Quinton de Kock failed again, perishing for 8 off 11 deliveries.
Asked to bat first, India posted 358/5 in 50 overs. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma fell early, managing 22 (38) and 14 (8), respectively. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Virat Kohli then stitched a 195-run partnership for the third wicket. Gaikwad slammed his maiden ton, scoring 105 off 83 deliveries, in a power-packed innings featuring two sixes and 12 boundaries. Meanwhile, Kohli struck back-to-back tons, hitting 102 off 93 balls with the help of seven fours and two sixes.
Captain KL Rahul provided the late flourish, scoring a quickfire 66 off 43 balls, including two maximums and six fours. Ravindra Jadeja stayed unbeaten on 24 off 27 balls. Marco Jansen was the pick of the bowlers for SA, picking up two wickets.
Team India are 1-0 ahead in the three-match series after registering a 17-run victory in the series opener in Ranchi.
