🏆Atalanta into quarters, Genoa thrashed 4-0, Fini off 🟥, Ahanor scores❗

Atalanta decisively defeats Genoa 4-0 at the New Balance Arena and will face Juventus in the quarterfinals, scheduled for early February.
La Dea gives no chance to the Grifone with goals from Djimsiti (19′), De Roon (54′), Pasalic (82′), and Ahanor (91′); the match was heavily influenced by Seydou Fini’s sending off in the 36th minute for a deliberate last-man foul on Bellanova.
After a first quarter of an hour without chances, Atalanta took control of the game and scored in the 19th minute with Djimsiti: a cross from the left by Zalewski and a header from Djimsiti just outside the six-yard box. It was his 11th goal in an Atalanta shirt: he is now the 4th highest-scoring defender in the club’s history, surpassing Caldara and Masiello.
The negative note was Kamaldeen Sulemana’s injury due to a muscle problem. Daniel Maldini came on in his place and went close to scoring on two very different occasions: first, he hit the post from a free kick in the 29th minute, but shortly after, he missed a one-on-one shot against Siegrist.
The match took a decisive turn in the 36th minute when Fini was sent off for deliberately holding back Bellanova, who was sprinting towards goal. A red card that would weigh heavily throughout the second half.
With a man down, Atalanta dominated the match and scored with a shot near the top corner by De Roon in the 54th minute.
Despite the result being secured, La Dea continued to attack and found the 3-0 and 4-0 in the final minutes: a tap-in from Pasalic after a missed shot by Scamacca and a header from a corner by Ahanor.
For the 2008-born player, it was his first goal with Atalanta, and it came against his former team, with whom he made his debut.
