2027 4-star safety Jaylen Scott decommits from Auburn

Mobile (Ala.) Williamson four-star safety Jaylen Scott told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman on Tuesday that he has backed off his commitment to Auburn.

He was the lone commit in the fold for the Tigers in the 2027 cycle. Scott flipped to Auburn from Florida State on June 9. With Alex Golesh now at the helm and a new staff coming to The Plains, Scott is now reevaluating his options once more.

Auburn will remain a contender, but other schools will be in the mix, too. Scott tells Spiegelman that Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mizzou and Michigan are all contenders moving forward as he comes to the end of his junior season.

The 6-foot, 160-pounder is the No. 151 overall prospect and No. 15 safety in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 junior in Alabama.

“It’s a passionate fan base, which creates an electric atmosphere at Jordan-Hare Stadium,” Scott previously told Rivals upon flipping to AU. “The program’s rich tradition, storied history and iconic rivalries, family-like atmosphere within the team also make Auburn a special place for me.”

Scott had returned to Jordan-Hare Stadium plenty this fall, but as Golesh rings in a new era, there’s already been several decommitments and he’s now the latest.

Earlier on Tuesday, three-star athlete Kentrell White backed off his commitment to the Tigers’ 2026 class. Four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone and three-star offensive tackle Nikau Hepi did the same, while prized four-star safety Bralan Womack flipped to Mississippi State.

Not long after Hepi decommitted, though, Golesh landed his first commitment on The Plains via three-star tight end Damarcus Broughton, a one-time USF commit. Broughton likely won’t be the only member of USF’s class to follow Golesh from Tampa, either.
