Wednesday’s Premier League 7.30pm predictions

Arsenal vs Brentford predictions

Arsenal will be delighted at the way things panned out for them last week as the Gunners brushed aside north London neighbours Tottenham 4-1, defeated German giants Bayern 3-1 in the Champions League and claimed a 1-1 draw at title rivals Chelsea to stay in control at the Premier League summit.

Mikel Arteta’s side have won nine of their ten matches at the Emirates – they were held to a point by Manchester City – but they can’t afford to drop their guard at home to a Brentford side who know exactly where the goal is.

Having been defensively irresistible for much of the season, Arsenal have now conceded in four straight matches and an injury to star centre-back Gabriel has been made worse with William Saliba now a doubt having also missed the draw at Stamford Bridge.

That will offer the Bees hope going forward, especially as they have failed to score in only two of their 16 matches this season, and in 11-goal Brazilian forward Igor Thiago they have a striker oozing with confidence.

However, Brentford have lost five of their Premier League away games and, given Arsenal’s attacking riches are so difficult to contain, they could be on the end of an entertaining defeat at the Emirates.

Arsenal vs Brentford team news & predicted line-ups

Arsenal

Martin Odegaard could be in line to start his first game for Arsenal in two months but Gabriel is out and William Saliba is struggling with a knock that forced him to miss the trip to Chelsea. Leandro Trossard is also a doubt and Kai Havertz is unlikely to be risked as he nears his return.

Predicted line-up (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Mosquera, Hincapie, Calafiori; Odegaard, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Merino, Madueke.

Brentford

Reiss Nelson cannot face his parent club while Fabio Carvalho, Antoni Milambo and Josh Dasilva all remain sidelined.

Predicted line-up (5-3-2): Kelleher; Kayode, Collins, Van den Berg, Ajer, Hickey; Yarmolyuk, Henderson; Damsgaard; Ouattara, Thiago.

Arsenal vs Brentford key stat

Both teams have scored in the last three Premier League meetings between these London clubs.

Brighton vs Aston Villa predictions

Fifth faces fourth at the Amex Stadium and an intriguing clash between Brighton and Aston Villa should not disappoint.

Both teams are on a roll. Brighton have lost just once in the league since a 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth on September 13 and they have yet to be conquered on their own patch.

However, Villa have got themselves into gear too after failing to score in their opening four games and a defeat at Liverpool has been the only occasion since when they haven’t netted.

A penalty against Brentford has been the only goal the Seagulls have conceded in their last four games, but this looks a stronger test and the visitors are likely to be positive after winning seven of their last eight league games.

There are no issues at the other end for Fabian Hurzeler’s team, who have scored at least twice in seven of their last ten outings, so there looks a fair chance that we could see more than two goals here in a fixture that has tended to be entertaining in the last few seasons.

Brighton vs Aston Villa team news & predicted line-ups

Brighton

The Seagulls hope Kaoru Mitoma and Georgino Rutter can come through fitness tests, but James Milner and Solly March are doubtful and Adam Webster is out.

Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Wieffer, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu; Ayari, Gomez; Minteh, Rutter, De Cuyper; Welbeck.

Aston Villa

Ross Barkley hopes to shake off a knock but Tyrone Mings won’t feature.

Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Kamara, Tielemans; McGinn, Rogers, Buendia; Malen

Burnley vs Crystal Palace predictions

There is a sense that this showdown at Turf Moor will be a low-scoring affair, and it’s easy to see why.

In six home Premier League games this season, the Clarets boast a league-low 37 shots and 12 shots on target.

Couple that with the fact that Crystal Palace boast a defensive record bettered only by Arsenal, and a clash yielding few goals looks on the cards.

Indeed, a low-scoring Palace win might be even more tempting given that Burnley have lost four in a row.

But the Clarets need to start looking for wins in potentially winnable games and while FA Cup holders Palace have top-half aspirations, this still has to look like a winnable game for Scott Parker’s hosts.

Interestingly, nine of Burnley’s 15 matches this season have featured three or more goals, most recently Saturday’s 3-1 loss at Brentford.

Buck the trend by backing this contest to have goals, too.

Burnley vs Crystal Palace team news & predicted line-ups

Burnley

The Clarets are still without long-term crocks Connor Roberts, Jordan Beyer and Zeki Amdouni. Lesley Uguchukwu, Jaidon Anthony and Armando Broja could start as Scott Parker freshens things up.

Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Dubravka; Walker, Tuanzebe, Esteve, Hartman; Cullen, Florentino; Tchaouna, Ugochukwu, Anthony; Broja.

Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner is definitely without Ismaila Sarr, who limped out of the 2-1 loss to Manchester United. Eddie Nketiah should replace Sarr, while Will Hughes is an option if the Eagles’ chief wants to rest a midfielder.

Predicted line-up (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Kamada, Mitchell; Nketiah, Pino; Mateta.

Burnley vs Crystal Palace key stat

Both teams have scored in nine of Burnley’s last 13 matches.

Wolves vs Nottingham Forest predictions

Wolves turned in an improved performance to make Aston Villa work hard for their three points in a 1-0 win on Sunday, but it was still an 11th loss in 13 Premier League games for Rob Edwards’ team.

They have conceded 16 goals in six home games in the top flight, losing five of them, and it may be wise not to bank on Wolves producing a decent effort in back-to-back games.

Nottingham Forest will arrive with a point to prove after a 2-0 home defeat by Brighton on Sunday which ended a run of three successive wins.

While Sean Dyche’s team are only one point above the relegation zone, a 3-0 win over champions Liverpool on their last away trip suggest they are worth backing at odds-against to beat tailed-off Wolves.

While Forest still have a few regulars out injured, the likely return of Murillo should shore up their defence and Morgan Gibbs-White will be a threat to the home side, having scored in two of his last three appearances against them and in four of his last seven games.

Wolves vs Nottingham Forest team news & predicted line-ups

Wolves

Daniel Bentley, Matt Doherty and Rodrigo Gomes are expected to miss out, with Jhon Arias keeping his place in attack.

Predicted line-up (3-5-2): Johnstone; T Gomes, Agbadou, Mosquera; Tchatchoua, J Gomes, Andre, Bellegarde, Moller Wolfe; Strand Larsen, Arias.

Nottingham Forest

Omari Hutchinson and Callum Hudson-Odoi could start. Chris Wood, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Taiwo Awoniyi are still out but Murillo and Morgan Gibbs-White should be available.

Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1):  Sels; Savona, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Anderson, Sangare; Hutchinson, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Jesus
