The Allan government will cut 1000 public service jobs, wind up 29 of the state’s 500 public entities and slash spending on consultants under a plan to deliver $4 billion in budget savings over the next four years.
But the plan announced by Treasurer Jaclyn Symes on Thursday stopped well short of much wider cuts to the public service recommended in the widespread review that forms the centrepiece of Labor’s bid to fix the state’s ailing finances.
