Daniel Farke remains under big sack pressure at Leeds United as his side prepare to face Chelsea in the Premier League.
Leeds were beaten 3-2 by Manchester City last Saturday, but put in a much-improved second-half performance at the Etihad.
Going into the break 2-0 down, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha fired the Elland Road outfit back into the game, before Phil Foden dealt a crushing blow in stoppage time.
Farke and his Leeds players were applauded off the pitch by the travelling fans, hinting that the German manager still has some support despite his side’s recent poor form.
Daniel Farke gets temporary respite after Man City loss
Farke’s future at Leeds is still in doubt going into Wednesday night’s clash with Chelsea, with the Whites still languishing in the Premier League relegation zone.
Brendan Rodgers has been linked with the job, and there have been suggestions that the hierarchy at the club are already preparing for a change in manager.
Indeed, it was reported earlier on Wednesday that Gary O’Neil is now being lined up to replace Farke in West Yorkshire.
However, speaking to Sky Sports News from inside Elland Road, reporter Ben Ransom noted that Farke had been given an easier ride in this week’s press conference, compared to before the City game.
Asked about the ongoing talk, Ransom said: “It’s interesting because compared to the press conference before the Man City game, there wasn’t one question on his future yesterday.”
Perhaps Farke may have bought himself another couple of days in the job after pushing Pep Guardiola’s side all the way at the Etihad.
Enzo Maresca wary of resurgent Leeds
Against Man City, Farke made a tactical switch at half-time with his team struggling to compete, straying away from his preferred 4-3-3 formation and opting for a 5-3-2 instead.
Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha played alongside one another in a front two, and the change had the desired effect, with both strikers finding the back of the net.

Leeds’ sudden tactical flexibility has sparked questions about how they will set up on Wednesday evening.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Elland Road, Enzo Maresca revealed that he is unsure which formation Farke will utilise.
If they do opt to remain with the five at the back system, the Whites will hope it works just as well as it did against Man City.
