Liverpool’s next 5 Premier League games provide perfect opportunity for much-needed renaissance

Liverpool will resume their hitherto troubled Premier League campaign on Saturday, and with no more international windows for another four months, the Reds will be going full pelt from now until late March.

The defending champions currently languish in eighth place in the table, equidistant in terms of points (eight) between leaders Arsenal and 18th-placed West Ham, and many pundits have already written off any prospect of Arne Slot’s team retaining their title.

The best new betting sites continue to offer competitive odds on upcoming LFC fixtures, though, and their next five top-flight matches appear to offer an ideal opportunity to regain some much-needed momentum.

Who do Liverpool play in next five Premier League games?

First up, it’s Nottingham Forest at home on Saturday, with the Garibaldi second from bottom in the table and already onto their third manager of the season, as many as Liverpool have had since the summer of 2012.

The Midlands club have shown signs of improvement under Sean Dyche, who has plenty of previous for claiming results at Anfield, but with all due respect this is a game from which nothing less than three points will suffice for the champions.

The Reds then go to another current relegation zone dweller on 30 November as they travel to face West Ham, who they thumped 5-0 at the London Stadium 11 months ago.

Similar to Forest, the Irons appear to be growing on confidence after a dreadful start to the campaign, having won their last two games. Nuno Espirito Santo took four points in matches against Liverpool last term, but again this is a match that LFC simply must win.

Then comes Sunderland on 3 December in the first midweek Premier League round of the season. The Wearsiders are actually the highest-placed team that we’ve yet to face in the top flight this term, with Regis Le Bris doing brilliantly to have his promoted side currently occupying fourth place. A tough test awaits from the Black Cats, but Liverpool can’t afford to drop points at home in this one.

Three days later the Reds are away to 16th-placed Leeds, who’ve only lost once at Elland Road since returning to the top tier but were picked apart by Forest in their last match.

A repeat of our most recent result at the Yorkshire venue (a 6-1 win in April 2023) would be most welcome, but right now we’d take a win of any description.

On 13 December, Liverpool welcome Brighton to Anfield, which is always a fiendishly difficult fixture. The Seagulls have been hit-and-miss this season, as illustrated by their current placing of 11th, although they have a striker in form in Danny Welbeck.

Their last two visits to L4 have ended in 2-1 home wins, and we’d settle for that outcome once again next month.

Liverpool’s remaining matches in 2025 are comparatively kind

Unacceptable as it is for the Reds to be languishing in eighth with nearly a third of the season gone, it should be noted that we’ve already played many of our theroretically toughest fixtures.

Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur are the only other top-half sides we’ve yet to face, whereas Burnley are the sole current occupant of a bottom-six placing we’ve met so far.

There’s no such thing as an easy game in the Premier League, and Liverpool need to show far higher standards than what they’ve displayed over the last three months, but these next few weeks certainly present a genuine opportunity to regain momentum and at least close the gap to Arsenal.
