Rumor Roundup: Kyle Tucker Met With Blue Jays

The winter meetings loom large, and the Mets remain at the center of baseball’s busiest rumor circuits.

Kyle Tucker to Canada?

Robert Murray of Fansided reports free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker was spotted at the Toronto Blue Jays spring training facility in Dunedin, Florida, today. The American League champs have already been aggressive this offseason, signing starters Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce.

Alonso’s Market Taking Shape

Jim Bowden of The Athletic mentioned that the Pirates, Reds, Angels, Rays, Nationals, Diamondbacks, Rockies and Twins are considering upgrading at first base, but that the Mets and Red Sox are still the most likely landing spots for Pete Alonso.

Cody Bellinger Market Heating Up

Jon Morosi reported on MLB Network that, in addition to both New York teams, the Phillies and Dodgers are showing interest in Cody Bellinger as the winter meetings approach. The versatile outfielder’s market is reported to be robust heading into next week’s gathering in Orlando.

Jim Bowden listed Bellinger as a potential Mets target if Pete Alonso signs elsewhere. Ken Rosenthal echoed this sentiment on Fair Territory, noting the Mets could be a fit for Bellinger after trading Brandon Nimmo.

Mets Casting Wide Net on Scott Boras Clients

In his examination of Scott Boras’ free agents, Bowden listed that the Mets have expressed interest in Alonso, Bellinger, Ranger Suárez, Tatsuya Imai, and Kazuma Okamoto. He also suggested the Mets could be a fit for Alex Bregman, Zac Gallen, and Nick Martinez, depending on how their roster construction evolves.

Mets Still Eyeing Rotation Moves

Rosenthal indicated on Fair Territory that the Mets are still expected to trade Kodai Senga and add another starter to their rotation. Despite these potential departures, reunions with both Díaz and Alonso remain on the table, but the Mets appear willing to keep all options open as they reshape their roster, so these reunions are not guaranteed.

Peralta on the Move?

Rosenthal mentioned that the Brewers are “cracking the door open” for discussion about their ace, Freddy Peralta, in trades. The Brewers haven’t indicated that they are shopping the 29-year-old, but interest has been so significant that they will listen to offers.

Could Kyle Schwarber Fit the Mets?

Rosenthal also identified the Mets as a potential landing spot for Kyle Schwarber, emphasizing how free agency’s progression will determine which teams pursue the veteran slugger most aggressively.

The convergence of executives and agents at the winter meetings should provide clarity on several of these storylines as baseball’s most active transaction period begins.
