When will ‘Roofman’ stream on Paramount+? How to watch the true story

Channing Tatum on filming ‘Roofman’ naked toy store chase
Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst share behind-the-scenes stories from “Roofman.”
The movie “Roofman,” based on the real-life story of Jeffrey Manchester, an Army veteran and struggling father who escapes prison after being caught for robbing McDonald’s restaurants, will soon be available for streaming. It stars Channing Tatum and Kristen Dunst.
The film by director Derek Cianfrance premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September and is described as an “incredible true story” of the North Carolina man “who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname: Roofman.”
After fleeing from jail, he winds up living in Toys ‘R Us, making a home away from home for himself in an alcove behind a bunch of bike racks and sleeping in a bed with Spider-Man sheets.
“But when he falls for Leigh (Kirsten Dunst), a divorced mom drawn to his undeniable charm, his double life begins to unravel, setting off a compelling and suspenseful game of cat and mouse as his past closes in,” the synopsis adds.
Tatum told USA TODAY earlier that to be able to pull off the role, he needed to call the guy he was playing, who is still in a maximum-security prison. The actor said he was taken by Manchester’s optimism and “child-like energy” and though the latter wasn’t exactly a fan of Tatum’s, they bonded over movies as much as they did their kids.
The two men talked about “how much we loved our children and make bad decisions sometimes because you don’t know how to be a parent,” Tatum said. “It was just joyful to talk to him in a way.”
