Motorists faced huge delays this morning after Tyne Bridge, one of the main Newcastle routes, had to be shut. Long tailbacks formed after the closure, which ChronicleLive said was due to a “police incident”.
The Tyne Bridge, linking Newcastle and Gateshead, was reopened before 8am, but long queues remained.
