This Is What the December Supermoon Has in Store—Especially for These Star Signs

The last full moon of 2025 brings the year to a close with a bang. (Or at least a beautiful view.) It is part of an exceptional series of supermoon—three, so far—that have occurred over the past three months, with a fourth due in January 2026.

During a supermoon, the moon is closest to the Earth in its orbit, which not only makes it appear larger and brighter in the sky, but also increases its power of attraction in astrological terms—and with it, emotions and feelings. This explains the upside-down energies of recent months. As a bonus, the supermoon on December 5 2025 will be at an exceptional height—the highest since December 2006. We’ll have to wait until 2042 to experience such an extreme phenomenon again.

Astrologer Bérénice Delignat sheds light on how this intense astrological event will affect you, as well the star signs it’ll impact the most.

What’s special about this supermoon?

“This last full moon of 2025 rises in the sign of Gemini as a moment of inner truth, a space where everything that has been mentally cluttering us up for months finally comes up to be understood, sorted out, clarified, left behind,” says Delignat. “Because this lunation doesn’t just light up a sky: it brings to a close a whole year of inner work, a year marked by profound realisations, successive karmic liberations, and sometimes disturbing—but necessary—revelations. A year in which, individually and collectively, we’ve had to learn to face up to our contradictions, listen to our intuitions, recognize our illusions, and shed what was clouding our perceptions.”

“It’s no coincidence that this full moon is positioned exactly at the square of the Pisces-Virgo nodal axis,” says Delignat. In layman’s terms? This basically means this is a good time to let go, and stop thinking so much. “[It’s] the axis that carries the entire 2025 life path, the axis that asks us to let go of the mental over-analysis of Virgo to rediscover the faith, trust and fluidity of Pisces. And which, in an exact square, acts as a final initiatory passage, a non-negotiable tipping point, a moment when life clearly tells us, ‘You can’t enter 2026 with the same thoughts, the same stories, the same fears that accompanied you this year.’”

“This full moon in Gemini is therefore not just a lunar event, it’s a space for mental purification, a deep sorting out of everything we’ve accumulated internally, a moment when the Sun in Sagittarius sheds light on what needs to be aligned with our vision, with our expansion, with the natural movement of our soul,” adds Delignat.
