AMA Private Health Insurance Report Card 2025

Australia has a unique balance of public and private healthcare options.

These parts of the healthcare sector complement each other, helping to deliver world-leading healthcare outcomes.

The private sector provides a wide range of services, including two out of every five hospital admissions and more than two in three planned surgeries.

These are services that would otherwise need to be delivered in our public hospitals.
