‘Show some respect’: US influencer James Charles’ offhand remark while trying a Bunnings sausage sizzle has Aussies aghast

The Bunnings sausage sizzle has become such an Aussie icon that tourists are going out of their way to try it, including some high-profile ones.

US influencer James Charles is one of the latest to be acquainted with the Bunnings snag, making sure to stop by a branch of the hardware store to try the delicacy.

“I’m in Australia and apparently I’ve been told I need to try a Bunnings sausage sizzle. I don’t know what the f–k that is, but I’m always down for trying local foods,” the 26-year-old said.

Upon seeing the green tent that houses the barbecue, the beauty content creator, who has over 40 million TikTok followers, was unimpressed.

“I’m literally so confused and I don’t understand why the f–k they’re selling sausages at, like, a hardware store, but I guess we’re going to try this out,” he said.

The influencer ordered six sausage sizzles with onion and a can of Coke, rounding up his purchase of $31 to $100 for charity (after a back and forth with the woman manning the payment machine).

When seeing what the sausage sizzle entailed, he said, ”This is just a f–king hot dog.”

He then topped the snag with tomato sauce, which he called “ketchup”, and mustard before taking a bite.

”It’s literally just a hot dog,” he said, before adding, “Honestly, it’s pretty good.

“I wish the bread was thicker. Like, I need more bread to sausage sizzle ratio.”

Despite his disappointment, he rated the sausage sizzle a ”solid 10 out of 10″.

Charles explored the hardware store before nabbing a Bunnings straw hat, rating his entire experience a 10.

Despite his high praise of the institution, his Aussie fans were enraged at his review.
