Martin’s lack of screentime hasn’t gone unnoticed, with many voicing their concerns on social media.

Recently, one person penned on X: “Martin Kemp is just enjoying his free 3 week long holiday at this point.”

Another said: “Martin has to be the only person in the history of, #ImACeleb to coast this far without doing 1 trial.”

Influencer Vogue addressed the issue during a Q&A on Instagram on Wednesday night.

After readjusting to the real world, the model was asked about Martin’s absence on the show.

She told fans: “Martin did want to do the trials, but Martin was exempt from some.

“And I think everybody wanted to do the trials, which was probably unusual for a year.”

She added: “I think that because Martin is a bit quieter he was kinda happy to let everybody else go ahead.

“Martin’s sound, such a nice guy. He’s really, really lovely.”

Martin’s alleged exemption from trials might relate to his epilepsy after his brain tumour battle in the 90s, though this is not confirmed.

The music icon has always been open about his health.

He has openly spoken about having two brain tumours in the late 90s and undergoing surgery and radiotherapy to remove them.

He has also shared that he lives with epilepsy, which he takes medication for.

The Sun has reached out to ITV for comment.

What is epilepsy?

Epilepsy is a condition that affects the brain, causing repeated seizures.

It impacts about one per cent of the population – around 630,000 people in the UK.

It can start at any age, but most people are diagnosed as a child or over the age of 65.

Treatment usually involves medication to stop or reduce seizures, but about 30 per cent of epilepsy patients become drug-resistant. Surgery then may be an option.

Every year in the UK, around 1,000 people die from causes related to epilepsy

This comes after the star’s son Roman Kemp, who appeared on I’m A Celeb back in 2019, jumped to his famous father’s defence.

During his time in the jungle, Martin has admitted he finds it “harder to make friends” as he has “got older”.

There has been some concern that the singer hasn’t “bonded” as much with the other campmates, and has appeared less on screen.

However, Roman has defended his father and explained more on his dad’s “friends” situation.

Taking to Instagram, the devoted son said: “Some have said my dad’s not having a nice time in there or not enjoying it.

“He is REALLY loving it. I said this last night but I think a few of you think I’m just bantering but something I have noticed is my dad keeps saying
‘my new friends’.

“He genuinely doesn’t have mates outside of my mum, Harley and me so he means it, he’ll really be chuffed. Again not being mean, that’s the truth.”
