BREAKING: Fresh Hazlewood fears as details over star’s second blow emerge

Josh Hazlewood could be set to sit out of the remainder of the Ashes series, suffering yet another injury setback alongside his lingering hamstring injury.

The towering quick suffered his hamstring blow in a Sheffield Shield match last month for NSW, going down against Victoria which sidelined him for the first and second Tests.

Now, according to the SMH, Hazlewood is battling with a low-grade Achilles injury.

It remains to be seen how severe his fresh injury blow is, with Cricket Australia yet to reveal his return timeline.

However, Hazlewood will reportedly be back bowling next week — having cancelled his trip to Brisbane to be with the squad during his rehabilitation.

“Josh Hazlewood reported Achilles soreness this week during his rehabilitation from a recent hamstring injury,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.

“It is a low-grade issue, and he is expected to recommence running and bowling next week.”

Prior to his fresh injury, Hazlewood had begun bowling as he eyed a return in the third Test, set to begin on December 17.

Depending on the severity of his Achilles injury, Hazlewood could be put on ice until the Boxing Day Test at a minimum.
