Rock star’s wife files for divorce months after being shot, arrested

Author Jillian Lauren-Shriner, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, has file for divorce from her husband.

People reported that Lauren-Shriner, 52, cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. A date of separation was not listed.

The news comes after Lauren-Shriner was shot by police and then arrested in April on suspicion of attempted murder.

At the time the Los Angeles Police Department said it was attempting to track a suspect in an unrelated hit-and-run when Lauren-Shriner was spotted at a nearby residence with a handgun.

After being told multiple times to put down the firearm, she raised it at officers, who fired in response. She was later taken into custody and treated at a hospital for a non-life-threatening wound.

She was charged with assault and negligent discharge of a firearm but was granted a diversion program for mental health problems instead of serving jail time.

Prior to that, in March, she announced on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with cancer. She later said that she had two “back-to-back” surgeries that included a full hysterectomy.

The couple married in November 2005 and have two sons: Jovanni Starshine, 13, and Tariku Moon, 17. Lauren-Shriner is seeking joint legal and physical custody.

She is also requesting that Shriner provide spousal support, pay her attorney fees and be able to change her last name back to Lauren.

Weezer is best known for such songs as “Buddy Holly,” “Island in the Sun,” “Say It Ain’t So,” and “All My Favorite Songs.”
