Dovecote (just preferred despite being drawn widest) and Afraj make most appeal of the newcomers but CHIEF RED WING is selected to take another step forward. All six horses to finish in front of him at Leicester last time have won since.

This looks a good opportunity for ELAN D’OR to open his account having bumped into one at Newmarket before losing out by a narrow margin at Kempton. Nursery debutants Chhota Saab and Miss Starlet are feared most.

Ed Bethell’s QUANDARY (nap) looks worth siding with. She’s just 2lb higher than winning what was effectively a 0-95 at Lingfield in February and a pleasing return at Southwell 23 days ago should have teed her up nicely for this. Handle With Care, who ran so well on her only try over this far, could offer a bit of value against her.

This is much easier than WINDSOR PASS is used to and she may be able to add to her C&D win from January. Handicap debutant Petersburg is by far the most interesting alternative.

If breaking better than on stable debut at Bath 27 days ago, MISTER SANDMAN should be up to disposing of this lot. Dual C&D winner Ballybaymoonshiner, who goes well fresh, is the obvious alternative.

This looks tricky, with several whose claims rest on their ability to act on this surface. One who has handled it is FORGLEN, who arrives in good form and looks a solid option. Smokey Malone acts here and goes well when fresh, so perhaps he can put some lesser efforts behind him, while last-time winner Fornido and in-form Belle Amie are others who should be involved.

An open contest where the suggestion is SENSORIUM, who found his feet back at this level last time and, with a claimer offsetting his 5lb rise, is taken to follow up. Fellow last-time winner Justcallmepete (second choice) is another who should be a big player, while Tyger Bay, General Assembly and Giant are all respected.

Quite a tricky race, with SPRIGHTLY DANCE an obvious choice after her decisive win last time but now trying to defy a penalty against some potential improvers. Time Loop would be one of those, up in trip after an absence and representing a top yard, while Quamby and Good Old Days are not ruled out. Aethelthryth is an interesting newcomer.

Love Your Work (second choice) should give it another good shot from the front but BETTY BASSETT looks the play. Returning to further is a small plus and she has form figures of 12 in Class 6 contests. Kartini is a potential improver stepping up in trip.
