Director Vysakh has heaped praise on veteran actor Mammootty ahead of the release of Kalamkaval on Friday, saying the veteran star continues to evolve with every role he takes on.

Vysakh, who is currently directing Prithviraj Sukumaran’s much-anticipated film Khalifa, shared a heartfelt note on Instagram, expressing his admiration for Mammootty’s relentless commitment to reinvention.

“Some actors don’t just act… they evolve. They push boundaries. They make us believe again. And seeing Mammukka step into every new character with fresh fire — that’s a privilege we deeply cherish as an audience. Eagerly waiting to witness how you conquer this character!” he wrote.

Wishing Mammootty and the entire team success, Vysakh added, “May this film become another shining chapter in his legendary journey.”

He also extended warm wishes to Vinayakan, director Jithin K Jose and other key members of the crew.

Vysakh signed off by confirming his excitement for the first screening:

Kalamkaval, starring Mammootty and Vinayakan, hits theatres worldwide on Friday. The film has already generated considerable buzz, especially after the makers hinted the superstar will be seen in a role unlike any he has played before. Industry chatter suggests the character may have shades of grey, adding to the intrigue.

Earlier, Mammootty confirmed that the film had cleared censor formalities with a U/A certificate, saying:

“#Kalamkaval Censored with U/A 16+ Certificate. In Cinemas Soon.”

The film, written by Jithin K Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar, wrapped shooting in November last year. It features cinematography by Faisal Ali, editing by Praveen Prabhakar, music by Mujeeb Majeed, and action choreography by Action Santhosh.
