Brandi Carlile plays new music on NPR’s ‘Tiny Desk Concert’

Dec. 3 (UPI) — Brandi Carlile made her return to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert program Wednesday to perform music from her new album, Returning to Myself.
It was the singer-songwriter’s second appearance on the video series, 13 years after she first came on the show. She was joined by Solomon Dorsey on upright bass and Sistastrings, the duo of Chauntee Ross and Monique Ross, on keyboard and strings.
The group opened the concert with the second single from the new album, “A War with Time.”
Carlile told those gathered for the performance she was “so excited to play” and that she enjoys watching Tiny Desk Concert.
“It’s the kind of thing that really makes your blood run a little cold,” she said, “and that’s something I’m looking for more and more in my life as I inch into my 40s.”
She said she’s “just nervous enough to really, deeply show up.”
Carlile followed up with her first live performance of “A Woman Oversees.”
“This is a soulful place to come and do something for the first time. It really is,” she said.
She wrapped up the appearance with “Human” and “Returning to Myself,” the first single from Carlile’s eighth studio album, which was released in October.
