NYC commuter alert: F and M subway trains to permanently swap routes between Manhattan and Queens

NEW YORK (WABC) — The F and M lines between Manhattan and Queens will permanently switch routes beginning December 8.
Starting Monday, the F and M trains will swap routes on weekdays only and the change will impact eight stations.
The lines will swap service on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
F trains will stop at Queens Plaza, Court Sq-23 St, Lexington Av/53 St, and 5 Av/53 St.
M trains will stop at 21 St-Queensbridge, Roosevelt Island, Lexington Av/63 St, and 57 St.
There will be no changes to service on weekends or late nights.
The MTA said the goal is to cut down on overcrowding and delays along the Queens Boulevard line.
“NYC Transit is implementing smart changes that will enhance reliability and operational resilience which ultimately results in better service that customers can count on,” said NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow. “Running the F via the 53 St line and the M via the 63 St line between Manhattan and Queens will make for faster, less crowded, and more direct trips between the 63 St line and Queens Boulevard local stations.”
