4-star WR Kenny Darby commits to Kentucky after decommitting from LSU

Will Stein and Kentucky football just pulled off a massive recruiting win, as 4-star wide receiver Kenny Darby has committed to the Wildcats. Darby announced the news at a Friday ceremony, and he’ll officially sign with Kentucky during the early signing period.

Originally committed to LSU, Darby will seemingly follow former Tigers offensive coordinator Joe Sloan to Lexington, as Sloan is reportedly set to take the same position in Stein’s first coaching staff.

A consensus 4-star recruit, Darby is one of the highest-rated wide receivers to ever commit to Kentucky. He’s currently ranked 203rd nationally, 27th among wide receivers, and ninth in the state of Louisiana at 247 Sports.

The 6-foot, 175-pound product of Airline High School (LA) holds additional offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida State, and Missouri, among others.

It can’t be overstated how massive of a recruiting win this is for Stein, who doesn’t even have a full week under his belt as the next head coach of Kentucky football. This is the kind of shot in the arm the program needed heading into what’s going to be an extremely busy offseason when it comes to bringing in new players and coaches.
