JMU Football fans excited, energized for Sun Belt Championship Game

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – It’s arguably one of the biggest games in JMU Football history as the Dukes look to claim the throne on top of the Sun Belt Conference for the first time in school history.

Fans and students like freshman Abby Spizuoco are looking forward to the big game, as the Dukes have a shot at the College Football Playoff.

“I think energy’s high, we’re all pretty excited that we are going to the Sun Belt Championship game and hosting it here at JMU,” Spizuoco said.

Final preparations are underway at Bridgeforth, with the Sun Belt Championship logos displayed throughout the stadium.

This game also comes just before Finals Week on the JMU campus for students, but freshman Addy McCarthy said with the energy of the Dukes in the championship game, the end-of-semester grind is a little less dreadful.

“I think it’s a little bit stressful with like finals week and all, but I think the championship is really like bringing up the energy and everything,” McCarthy said.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and will be televised on ESPN.
