Marty Morrissey found his Inner ­Sociologist last week with a ­series of illuminating reports on ­Morning Ireland (RTÉ1, weekdays, 7am) about the difficulties ­facing certain GAA clubs in a changing country.

This is not an entirely new theme. For most of my life, the idea of the GAA club no longer able to field a full team has been a potent symbol of emigration and general decline.
