‘The Walking Dead’ alum joins ‘Fire Country’ cast for love triangle story line

A “Walking Dead” alum is joining the cast of “Fire Country,” and his arrival is sure to shake things up.

Josh McDermitt, who played Eugene Porter on “The Walking Dead,” will make his “Fire Country” debut as Landon during the Friday, Dec. 5, episode. Landon is romantically involved with Chloe (Alona Tal), who will be introduced to viewers during the Dec. 12 episode.

Although “Fire Country” fans haven’t met Chloe yet, the action drama’s protagonist, Bode (Max Thieriot), knows her well. Chloe was Bode’s peer tutor back in high school, when the pair had secret crushes on each other.

The timing may not be right for Chloe and Bode to spark a love connection given Chloe and Landon’s relationship. Landon is a father figure to Chloe’s teenage son, Tyler (Conor Sherry), who has been acting out since the family lost their home to a wildfire.

Sherry will also make his “Fire Country” debut this Friday, when Tyler crosses paths with Bode.

Chloe reconnecting with Bode comes at a time when he has no other romantic entanglements. His on-again, off-again love interest Gabriela Perez (Stephanie Arcila) left town for a new job at the end of season 3, and Aubrey (Leven Rambin) broke up with him during a November episode.

Bode is available, but Chloe isn’t, which could make for some interesting moments ahead.

Season 4 of “Fire Country” premiered on Oct. 17. In addition to Thieriot, the CBS series stars Kevin Alejandro (Manny Perez), Jordan Calloway (Jake Crawford), Jules Latimer (Eve Edwards) and Diane Farr (Sharon Leone). Billy Burke (Vince Leone) left the CBS series after season 3.

“Fire Country” has not yet been renewed for season 5, but its spinoff, “Sheriff Country,” was renewed for season 2 after just six episodes. The new series stars Morena Baccarin (Mickey Fox), Christopher Gorham (Travis Fraley), Michele Weaver (Cassidy Campbell), Matt Lauria (Nathan Boone), W. Earl Brown (Wes Fox) and Amanda Arcuri (Skye Fraley).

“Sheriff Country” and “Fire Country” air back to back on CBS on Fridays beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Past episodes are available to stream on Paramount+.
