Triathlon champ Alex Yee chases fast time at Valencia Marathon 2025

Training days with fellow Brits

Training for the Valencia Marathon has included learning what he can from Britain’s best marathon runners.

Following a five-day training camp in early November in which he completed 144km alongside fellow Brits Emile Cairess, the fourth-place finisher in the marathon at Paris 2024, and Philip Sesemann, seventh in the 2021 London Marathon, Yee posted, perhaps unexpectedly considering the exertion: “I feel alive.

“I’m aware this block may lead to no outcome in Valencia, but the person I can be on the start line is something I can control and is the thing I’m starting to become proud of,” said Yee, who was slightly disappointed with his half-marathon time of 1:01:29 in the city at the end of October. Ever the competitor, he was hoping for something around a minute quicker.

“I’m excited to have one last go at the marathon distance,” said Yee of his Spanish outing, where he’ll be running against the likes of two-time marathon major winner and 2023 Valencia Marathon champion, Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia. “No expectations, just excitement!

“Vamos!”
