Obituary for Judith F. Shealy

Judith Funderburk Shealy, 79, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.  Born on May 31, 1946, Judy grew up in Clover, SC and graduated from Gaston College in 1966.

A longtime resident of Leesville, SC, Judy was a devoted member of Union Lutheran Church, where she actively participated in Sunday School, Women of the Church group, was on many committees and sang in the choir until her health no longer allowed. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to Jesus and her family.

Judy worked in the banking industry of more than 30 years and loved her coworkers and the friends she made. After her retirement she worked for a short time with Comfort Keepers  Home Care Services taking care of others. In her younger years, Judy loved camping, fishing and gardening with her husband Don. She was a great cook and baker. Everyone loved tasting her new creations and she loved feeding friends and family.  She could open a small bookstore with all the cookbooks she owns.  She was known for her joyful spirit and was always glad to see you.  She was generous with her time, always giving to others, never expecting or wanting anything in return. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was truly an Angel to everyone.

Surviving are a sister, Sandra F. Wallace of Fort Mill, SC, 6 nieces and nephews, Christine LaCount (Jeff), Scott Wallace (Bonnie), Jason Wallace (Sarah), Al Hernandez (Monica), EZ Hernandez (Julie) and Lindsay Sandoval, 13 great nieces and nephews, 4 great-great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Donald P. Shealy, her parents, Harry and Emily Blanche Funderburk, her step-mother, Ruth Baird Funderburk and a sister, Susan F. Hernandez.

Judy’s legacy of love, faith, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Union Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bill Ebener officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.  Memorials may be made to Union Lutheran Church, 4077 Hwy 378, Leesville, SC 29070. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
