Dolly Parton releases new book ‘Billy The Kid Dances His Heart Out’
Dolly Parton took to social media to announce the release of her latest children’s book, ‘Billy The Kid Dances His Heart Out,’ available to purchase now.

Dolly Parton – also known as “The Book Lady” – has released another children’s book to add to bookshelves, and her announcement of it might provide a little more reassurance to fans who’ve been worrying about her health.
Parton announced the release of “Billy the Kid Dances His Heart Out” in a video shared on her social media accounts Dec. 2. In the picture book, her favorite god-dog, Billy the Kid, attempts to overcome his nerves of dancing on stage, while also trying to catch the attention of his dance teacher – who happens to have auburn curls like someone else Parton knows.
“Creating stories that are fun, real, and carry life lessons hopefully makes it meaningful for children and their parents to experience the joy of reading together,” Parton said in a statement.
Health issues haven’t stopped Dolly Parton from working ‘9 to 5’
Temporarily sidelined because of recent health challenges, Parton has continued to work and connect with fans through video messages since early-October. She’s accepted major awards, including an honorary Oscar, and has been promoting new projects via video.
Parton addressed rumors about her health directly in a social media video posted Oct. 8 with the caption “I ain’t dead yet!”
“Everyone thinks I’m sicker than I am,” Parton said in the video explaining that she just postponed some of her own health concerns in the wake of her husband’s death and is now following doctor’s orders.
Though she’s reduced her traveling schedule, Parton has not slowed down much. “Billy the Kid Dances His Heart Out” was released Dec. 2, accompanied with a new Parton song, “Bella.” She also released her book “Star of the Show: My Life on Stage” in November and recently announced her own travel center in Tennessee launching next year.
