Since 2019, the huge grandstand that lines the second back ‘straight’ (sorry to be pedantic with the apostrophes but it is actually a long curve on the run to Turn 9) has been home to a huge contingent of Max Verstappen fans each year here.

It really reached a peak in 2021 ahead of his first title win, and in Verstappen’s recent years of domination the contingent of orange-shirted fans has shrunk back towards the level it was before the COVID pandemic.

But all those banners suggest the world champion will be roared on significantly as he chases a fifth crown this weekend.
