It wasn’t quite love at first sight for Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher.
The actress revealed in a new interview with WSJ Style that her romance with her “That ’70s Show” co-star came as a complete surprise to her and their loved ones.
“If anybody ever goes and says that they saw this coming, they are a filthy liar,” Mila explained. “My parents were in shock. I was in shock. There was no version of this where someone at one point said, ‘Oh yeah, I always knew.'”
Mila, 42, is so adamant about their unexpected love story that she says if she ever heard someone claim they saw it coming she would say, “‘The f–k are you talking about? There’s no way.'”
While they worked together for several seasons as love interests Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart, they didn’t begin dating in real life until nearly six years after the hit Fox sitcom wrapped.
Mila and Ashton, who was married to Demi Moore from 2005 to 2013 before separating in 2011, first reunited at the 2012 Golden Globe awards. They both noticed chemistry that wasn’t there before.
“It’s such a weird thing to put into words, but we didn’t see each other for probably three to five years,” the actress explained. “We always kept in touch, so we always checked in. Then we ran into each other at an award show, and we both thought the other one was cute.”
The co-stars-turned-lovers, who wed in 2015 and share two children, Wyatt, 11, and Dimitri, 9, have been inseparable since. Kutcher, 47, gushed about his wife to E! News in February 2023, saying, “The dream role is the role I play as a father and a husband.”
He continued, “My life is so good. I love spending time with my kids. I love my wife so much. I’m the most fortunate human being that I know.
