Compatriots Tamara Korpatsch and Anna-Lena Friedsam will clash in the semifinals of the Open Angers Loire Trélazé 2025.
Korpatsch beat Anna Siskova and Fiona Ferro in straight sets to book a quarterfinal showdown with defending champion and top seed Alycia Parks. An early break of serve helped the German secure a 3-0 lead. She didn’t let her good headstart go to waste, and eventually claimed the opener.
Korpatsch dealt the first blow to go up a break in the second set as well, though this time Parks broke back immediately to stay on level terms. However, the latter’s resistance crumbled soon after that as the former bagged three games on the trot to score a 6-3, 6-3 win.
Friendsam began her campaign in Angers with a tight two-set win over Teodora Kostovic. She fought past third seed Polina Kudermetova in three sets to make the last eight, where Zeynep Sonmez awaited her.
Somnez initially had the upper hand in the first set, which she relinquished after squandering her 4-2 lead. However, she had the last laugh in the end after bagging the last three games of the set to take it. She moved closer to the finish line after going 3-1 up in the second set.
Friedsam turned the tables on her by sweeping the next five games to clinch the set. She struck first in the deciding set, and held on to her lead to complete a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 comeback win.

Korpatsch has a 45-27 record across all levels this year, while Friedsam has a 36-19 record. The former has won two titles on the ITF circuit this season, while the latter has claimed one title from two finals at the same level.
Their only career meeting took place in Angers a year ago, and Korpatsch cruised to a routine win. Given how she has played this week, a similar outcome wouldn’t be too surprising.
