Unai Emery expresses the ‘responsibility’ he has to ensure Aston Villa’s competitiveness

Unai Emery addressed the prospects of Aston Villa in the Premier League title race.
The Villans are six points and two positions behind league leaders Arsenal, whom they host at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon. It is all about taking things one step at a time for the Spanish head coach, but he knows his players need another performance with passion like their comeback in midweek.
“The future is unpredictable. We must focus each match. Of course, if we are winning, we can be more positive for the next matches, if we are not winning, we are not changing nothing.
“But our race is each match, and it’s good sometimes to remind ourselves of our experiences before, and two months ago, we were in the bottom. Now, we are in the top. Maybe, in two months, we can again come back going down.
“And this is football, and this is the Premier League, the most difficult. And it was so, so difficult to beat Brighton, it was so difficult to beat Wolves.
“I can remind it for us and for you, and I was not feeling favourite against Wolves, and I told you it, and [Saturday], I am not feeling favourite, but as well, I know we can win.”
“I am feeling always my responsibility, a high responsibility. And when I am choosing which players are playing, tactical idea, how we are responding even with our emotions – myself to them – it’s very important.
“And when I am showing my emotions, it’s because in that moment, my emotion was so high for different circumstances.
“Of course, the result is the most circumstances we can have showing our emotions better or worse, and then how we are performing. And how we can get three points each match, of course, this is the management usually, being so demanding, to try to get my best as well.
“In Brighton, of course, it was very important to do one step forward like we did, in the difficulties we had, in case we were losing, they could get us in the table and be in front of us.
“And to have the opportunity for Saturday, against Arsenal at home, to play one match, like we are now in the table, and everything was in my mind, before the match, during the match, after the match.
“My responsibility is something I am feeling a lot. And, of course, I don’t want to make a mistake, with the owners, with the supporters, with the players, with myself as well.”
