Grecians targeting glory and cash in the FA Cup Third Round

Exeter City will be relieved to turn their attention back to the prospect of a welcome financial boost when they welcome Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup Second Round on Saturday.

City have lost their last two games in the league and were unceremoniously dumped out of the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night, losing 4-0 at Luton Town, but the FA Cup is a swift source of potentially crucial funding.

Rumours of financial worry have been circling around St James Park for a few months, but every struggle below the very top table is struggling to balance the books.

The prospect for City and many others this weekend is to book a place in the Third Round of the FA Cup, which means a definite boost to the coffers in terms of prize money, and also the chance of being drawn to play one of the Premier League giants, and all the instant cash that brings.

There are, however, far easier opponents in the Second Round than Wycombe Wanderers, who defeated City’s Devon rivals Plymouth Argyle in the previous round and currently sit eight places above the Grecians in the league.

Kick-off at SJP is 3pm and bring your wellies!
