Woman in critical condition after car crash involving HGV on Oteley Road

A serious road traffic collision occurred on Oteley Road in Shrewsbury this morning, prompting an extensive emergency response. Paramedics, police officers, and firefighters were dispatched to the scene shortly after reports came in at 10:30 AM regarding an accident involving a car and a heavy goods vehicle (HGV).
Emergency services responded promptly, with the West Midlands Ambulance Service providing details about the critical situation. A spokeswoman confirmed that two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were immediately sent to assist. Upon arrival, medical teams found a female driver from the car in a critical condition. Advanced life support measures were quickly initiated before she was transported by air ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.
The fire service also reported receiving a call at 10:36 AM about the incident, indicating that while there was no one trapped in the vehicles, the situation required significant resources. In total, three fire engines were deployed from Shrewsbury, Telford Central, and Wellington, along with an operations officer to manage the response.
