BBC viewers watching the latest episode of Strictly Come Dancing were left fuming at what they declared was a ‘crime’.
It was musicals week in the latest instalment of the popular dancing competition. Fans were treated to renditions and spectacular numbers from hit shows such as Phantom of the Opera and movie The Greatest Showman.
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman returned in their hosting duties on Saturday (December 6) to present the celebrity dances. However, one performance in particular left viewers scratching their heads.
A week after EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal and her partner Julian survived the dance off, they performed a Viennese Waltz to Never Enough, from The Greatest Showman. Their routine ended with a standing ovation and plenty of emotion.
The actress admitted that the song held a poignant meaning for the pair saying they wanted to prove to the audience that “we are enough”.

All four judges were full of praise afterwards. Anton said: “The whole room just went straight into you.” Craig added: “It had feeling, it had emotion, you are a fighter.”
Shirley commented: “Long after this competition, you will always be a hero for me.” Balvinder was visibly emotional and failed to hold back her tears. This provoked Motsi to run out from the judges table and embrace her, while Tess was heard reassuring the star.
However, after all that, the scores were one 8 and three 9s. While this gave them their highest total score of the series, fans were left fuming. Viewers were quick to question the scores as they reacted to the developments online.
One, posting on social media said: “Balvinder and Julian created a proper moment. Goosebumps. Shocking they never got any 10s. If there is any justice in the world she will get to the semi-final without a dance off.”
Another added: “After all the good comments from Shirley, Motsi and Anton and they gave Balvinder an 9 thought they would given her a 10.” While a third said: “Queen Balvinder slayed again she deserved at least one 10.”

Meanwhile someone else posted: “Balvinder not getting a 40 for that dance is a CRIME. What more do they want from her!!! It was incredible.”
And one person admitted: “Balvinder had me in tears, that was an incredible performance, undermarked as usual, she should’ve got at least 2 10s, judges are so mean!!!”
It didn’t take much longer for Judges to hand out a 10 however, with all four giving top marks to the following dance, as Amber and Nikita earned a perfect 40 after their performance of Sit Down You’re Rocking The Boat, from the musical Guys and Dolls.
Strictly Comes Dancing continues tomorrow at 7.45pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
