Injuries in the Past, Jan Blachowicz Hunting Finish at UFC 323

Former light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz returns to the cage for the first time since March this Saturday, looking to bring a halt to a three-fight winless streak that has dogged him these past few years.
Blachowicz (29-11-1) has seen the judges side against him during that span, including a split draw with Magomed Anklaev in a title fight back in December of 2022, and then a split decision loss against Alex Pereira the following July.
Returning at UFC 323 against Bogdan Guskov, Blachowicz touched on those struggles, and injuries that have dogged him in parallel, during the event’s media day on Wednesday.
“The injuries, this is the past. I’m happy. Everything is good now,” stated Poland’s Blachowicz. “And you know, now, I cannot leave decision for [judges]. I need to finish [the] fight before time [runs out]. And this is what I’m gonna do.”
Stating that fight camp was “good” with “no injuries,” Blachowicz admitted that he wasn’t at all familiar with Guskov prior to the offer to fight him. “I started checking when they offered him. I don’t watch his fights before that, but now I know almost everything about him.”
His take on his latest opponent? Blachowicz noted that Bogdan Guskov is a “very powerful guy,” adding “Young guy, young blood with good striking skills. So I have to be focused all the time, hands up. But I like this style, and I think his style and my style are gonna be a good fight to watch.”
“That’s why I like this fight also,” he noted.
Despite his struggles, Jan Blachowicz remains ranked #5 in the weight class, meaning a win Saturday could put him right back in the mix.
